The State of California and NOAA (partners in the NTHMP) developed the California Tsunami Playbook Communication Exercise on March 24, 2021, at 2:00pm. Recent earthquakes and associated tsunamis, such as those in Samoa-2009, Chile-2010, Japan- 2011, and Chile-2015, attest to the importance of proper planning for tsunami response. Similar recent exercises in the Pacific have proven effective in strengthening preparedness levels and planning efforts of emergency management organizations.
