Tsunami Walk and media event. The walk will be from Kellogg Park, La Jolla Shores, to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and back.
Full Description:
Tsunami Walk and media event on Wednesday, March 26 at Kellogg Park at La Jolla Shores beginning at approx. 10:15 with NOAA and the Calif. Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES)’s planned test of the tsunami warning communications system. In general, we will then have a media event until approx. 10:45, at which time the LRAD system will be demonstrated, sending an alert signal up/down the coastline. That alarm will signal the start of our walk to Scripps Institution of Oceanography (8622 Kennel Way, La Jolla, CA 92037). The walk will culminate with a small wrap up and perhaps one-on-one questions. We will then walk back to Kellogg.
Planned speakers for the event are San Diego Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, Rick Wilson (California Geological Survey) and Holly Crawford (Director, San Diego County Office of Emergency Services). Sherri will speak about the City’s efforts and Holly will speak from a more regional perspective.
