Summary:
Internal tsunami simulation exercise for statewide emergency management, modeled after PACIFEX.
Full Description:
Internal exercise for emergency management, statewide. Media may not participate but may interview those involved afterward. Exercise is tailored after the PACIFEX Tsunami Exercise handbook for a M8.3 off the Aleutian Islands, with a 4.5 to 6.5 hour travel time to northern and southern California respectively. Over a dozen mock tsunami alert messages to help make local exercises more realistic. A summary of the mock alert messages and forecast wave heights for 70 locations along the California coast.
